The following changes
affecting the Atlantic Division in 2010 were approved
at the January Board of Directors meeting.
~ Jim Boice, Atlantic Division Coordinator
There is no longer a special "catch-up" rule in any
division, including the Atlantic Division. The five-run-maximum-per-inning
rule, however, still "DOES" apply (except in the last
inning). This means that if your team is behind by six runs
in the bottom of the sixth inning, 4-10, you will be able to
close the run differential to 9-10 in the 6th inning, but you'll
need to wait until the 7th inning to tie and go ahead.
Teams may play with nine or more rostered players, and each
team is expected to supply their own catcher. There is NO
OBLIGATION for the batting team to provide a catcher to a
short-handed team. Any team "playing" with fewer
than nine rostered players will forfeit their game(s). Automatic
outs for a team playing with fewer than 11 players no longer
applies in 2010.
Over-running of 2B and 3B in the Atlantic Division is no
longer permitted; runners over-running those bases MAY be
tagged out. Sliding is permitted into 2B and 3B.
Every Atlantic Division team will play in Wayland each week
on either Tuesday OR Thursday. The schedule will be established
so that each team plays an equitable number of games on Tuesdays
and Thursdays. Tuesday games will be the familiar format:
four-teams, two-doubleheaders, on two Wayland fields. The
Thursday games, however, will see at least one field where
three teams will play a round-robin of games: AvB, BvC, CvA.
All games, Tuesday and Thursday, regardless of format, will
start at 9:30 AM.
