  • Re-election 2007 - THANK YOU

    -
I’d like to thank all the EMASS members who participated in the election for Commissioner which concluded this past Sunday night. In our 13 years of existence this was our first contested election and it was good that we developed the wherewithal in order to repeat this process in the future.
    - I want to thank the people that put that process together and conducted a fluid election: Jon Shubow, our web guy, who has worked tirelessly in our behalf at way-less-then market rates; Arthur Priver, who didn’t know what he was
getting into when he agreed to chair the nominating committee; and, of course, the omnipresent John Stewart, who handled the paper ballots and the phoned-in questions.
    - I want to mention my opponent, Don Murphy, who worked hard to pursue his EMASS ideals and I hope he will continue to be the responsible, active Board member that he has been in the past.
    - Finally, I want to thank those of you that helped me get out the vote as well as the members that did vote for me. I am thrilled that you have allowed me to continue to pursue my EMASS vision. I will not betray the trust you have placed
    in me. Thanks.
    - I can be reached during the day at (617) 266-2800 or Stu@StuGrayLaw.com.

  • HATS ON or HATS OFF??

At June’s Board meeting EMASS decided that it would be fun for each of us to have the opportunity to have our own baseball card. No kidding – an individual card with each person’s picture on the front of it and personal information and stats on the back of the card.

Here’s how it will work. EMASS has hired professional sports photographers to take team pictures of each of the 21 teams in the American, National & Atlantic divisions over the course of the summer. Individual pictures, of everybody in the team photo, will also be taken at this time. Each player in the picture will receive an 8x10 colored team photo. You will then get to view your individual picture online in order to determine if you want your own baseball card. If you do, the price will be $25 for 12 cards.

  • August 6, 2007 UPDATE on 'HATS ON or HATS OFF' re team and individual photographs :

    1) Every player will receive a team photo, paid for by EMASS. New England Sports Photo is printing up one 8x10 team picture for everyone in each photo. They will be handed out at the EMASS Banquet. (Note: They are only posted on the website for players who want the team photo on their trader cards instead of an individual picture).

    2) You can order individual photos by going to the website: www.nesports.photoreflect.com and clicking on “recent events” and then on “EMASS Softball” or go directly to
    http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/prsm.dll?eventthumbs?event=03LV001F

    3) If you are ordering the “trader cards” you will be sent an email message asking for the following information to be printed on the photo:

Front of Card: Players Name (24 characters); Year: (4 characters)

Back of Card: Current hometown: (22 characters); Town where Born: (22 Characters); Year born; # of Seasons in EMASS: (22 characters); Team Name: (22 characters); Lifetime Batting Avg: (22 Characters); Personal quote

    4) If you have questions about the cards you can contact the company directly: tomhawley@nesportsphoto.com

As you know, this is the first time EMASS has done this and we have been pleased with the process so far. Please give me your comments and suggestions so that if we do it again we can make it even better!

    ~ John Stewart
