  • 2008-2009 BASKETBALL - Hawthorne Gym in Newton

Saturday basketball began on September 27.

Games will be held on Wednesday October 22, Oct. 29 & Nov. 5, and
s tarting Nov. 11, the weekday game will switch to Tuesdays.

Play begins when the opens at 8am, and ends @ 10:30am.

The price is $3 per session. There is a $15 registration fee (good for play on weekdays and/or Saturdays). John has the registration forms.

The game we play is four on four, full-court. Everyone brings a white and a very dark T-shirt, and we divide into teams at random.

This is fairly serious basketball. Most guys played organized basketball in high school, a few in college and some have been playing regularly for many years. There are players of quite average skills who work at it and have become much better after a season or two.

The game is open to anyone 55 and over. (We’ll take a few younger players whose skills are modest.) About 80% of players also play in EMASS senior softball.

Directions to Hawthorn gym - The gym is on the right side, about 50 yards from the intersection of Rt 16 (Watertown St.) and Hawthorn St.

If you have questions please call John at 617 969 0950 or 'E' via johnstewart@alum.bu.edu
